Today we went to Carriage Hill Farms in Huber Heights in order to explore the forest around it, and look at the animals. We were free to explore, and decided to play hide and seek. It allowed me to think about how peaceful the life must be for farmers. We also wrote about the perspective of an object:
The morning sun rests over the full field, the warmth rushed into the orbs of dew surrounding me. My tall and lengthy branches shimmer as a breeze awakens me. I peer out towards the house in which the blessed family lives. I shimmer once again as I look and see the small dog running out the door alongside a young girl. They chase one another quickly reaching me. It’s a beautiful life the land has bestowed on me and I am ever so grateful for it. I could never ask for anything other than to be able to gaze on this peaceful sight every day. The old wheel barrow creeks as the girl begins to lift the dog in it and push it around. Her small pigtails dance once she begins to jump around in excitement. The wind then carries the voice of the young girl’s father. Her list of chores echo in the wind and passes through my old, twisted branches. I begin to overhear the little girl groan, shortly after she heads towards the chicken coop. As I continue to watch her with a strong curiosity, I begin to realize she must be picking up their eggs. The chickens jump out of her way, seemingly used to the ritual. I feel a sense of luck that I have nothing more to do than to watch everything occur on the open farm. As the sun climbs further into the sky, my leaves begin to float in the warmth of its rays. Sap slowly drips down me, gathering attention of the honey bees who burrow in their nest on my tallest branch. The jobs of those who live on the land seem to have great meaning and tremendous help for each other. It’s a pleasure to feel as though I’ve contributed to the lives of everyone and everything that has ever been to this farm.
